There are two types of inhalers available in the market. Both have there own system of functioning with there specific kind of delivery system.

 

The Two Types of Inhalers available in the market include
1. Meter Dosed inhaler: It is the most common form of inhaler available in the market. They are the most famous asthma drug delivery system available in the market. This device helps in the delivery of precise amount of the drug directly into the lungs. The method of using a meter dose inhaler is quite easy and even a kid can use it without much of a fuss. The person needs to first exhale completely and then place the MDI to his lips. After that you need to press on the top of the canister to get the perfect dose of the drug directly into the lungs. The patient than needs to hold his breadth for about ten seconds .these inhalers must be used regularly as prescribed and the patient carefully trained in their use in order for them to be effective and safe

2. Dry Powder Inhaler: This is a new system of asthma drug delivery system recently becoming popular among the patients. The plus point of using this drug is that these inhalers are environment friendly and can be put directly into the lungs. Such types of inhalers include
1. Rotahaler
2. Spinhaler
3. Turbohaler
4. Clickhaler
5. Diskhaler
6. Twisthaler
7. Spiros

How ever these dry powder inhalers are not considered suitable for children below the age of five. Also Humidity or extreme temperatures can affect their performance. They work similar to meter dosed inhalers. The person needs to first exhale completely and then place the device to his lips. But unlike breath-actuated MDIs, however, the patient must inhale rapidly.
